Art + Science workshops for K-12

  • In this activity, kids are learn what DNA is, its structure, and function. They build a DNA model using candy, and get to see some DNA, helping extract it from a strawberry.

  • In this lab, students learn about how chromatography works, and get to see first handedly how the process separates colors, creating a beautiful flower bouquet.

  • In this lab, students learn the basics of microscopes, the components and how they work. They also get to use a pocket-sized paper microscope called the foldscope to explore, and create a photo journal of what they see.

  • This activity often follows a longer one, after the kids have done some science together. They are invited to draw a picture of a scientist. Afterwards, they share and describe their drawing with their peers. The activity helps kids imagine themselves and people who look like them.

  • In this lab, kids are introduced to the scientific method, learning the process of how it works, its strengths and limitations. It can be scaled up or down for younger or older groups. Kids get to do an experiment together with the oreos, collect data (qualitative - art and quantitative), and then eat them (their favorite part!).

We lead workshops at schools, camps, churches, and daycares

Science and art are beautiful in and of themselves, but together, we think that beauty is amplified. We lead activities that bridge science and the arts for kids of all ages, including the youngest. Contact us for booking.
