Science and Religion

As we see so much of our public conversation framed as “either / or,” this fantastic song helps us live in a world of “and.” It reminds us that the biggest questions we face are not scientific, and they are not religious — they are human.

Science and Religion

An afrobeats + rap song that celebrates the harmony of science and religion! Our hope is that this song provides a message of harmony, sparks dialogue and conversations around how science and faith, and even the arts can work together in meaningful ways. The goal is to counter narratives of division and polarization that are almost everywhere these days, including but not limited to science and religion.

About the song

This song means a lot to me personally. As a scientist of faith, I've had my own story of having to reconcile my faith with science. I wrote this song to help others on that journey.

The purpose of this song is in the lyrics of the chorus: "All we wanna do with this song is start a conversation, and build up the relationship between us (science and religion)."

I hope that this song provides a message of harmony, sparks dialogue and conversations around how science and faith, and even the arts can work together in meaningful ways. The goal is to counter narratives of division and polarization that are almost everywhere these days, including but not limited to science and religion.

What People Are Saying

“A timely, beautifully performed reminder that scientists and people of faith are often engaged in the same human work: seeking, asking, and wrestling with life’s biggest questions. With smooth vocals from Ciara and a great collab with Mr. Talkbox, their song invites connection over division. As a cell biologist, I especially enjoyed the outro: “just because our cells be dividing, don’t mean we need to be divided” - a much needed message for our times.”

Dr. Ann Miller, Biology Professor

“In today’s polarized climate it often seems that Science and Faith are at war—and many on both sides promote that conflict. But it doesn’t have to be that way. For a long time now, believing scientists as well as theologians and biblical scholars have been declaring the compatibility of the two as they offer diverse views on the same reality. Now we can add the field of music to that conversation in the beautiful lyrics and performance of this song. Such music does not seek to persuade us; it moves us as we ponder what God has done in creation.”

Dr. John Walton, Theologian

“This song reminds us that we are all seekers of truth and understanding. Both science and faith are complimentary parts of the journey, both reflecting aspects of the fullness of God's glory.”

Dr. Janel Curry, American Scientific Affiliation, President
